It’s made a first impression and now it’s time to get more personal…
Alongside incredible images of Valentina, shot by Stephanie, on location in Mexico, we want to give you a closer look at some of our favourite pieces from the Spring Summer 21 collection and share what inspired them, why we love them and how we wear them.
This is such a classic shape, an elegant statement and slightly risky take on the fluid evening dress with a slit on one side so that it shows a bit of skin as you walk without revealing too much. We’ve worked with animal print every season but for Spring Summer 21 we decided to swap leopard for giraffe.- it’s a bolder choice but still reflects the elements of nature that have inspired us. We like to layer our maxi dresses - we’d wear this with an oversized jumper or a blazer, or an oversized white t-shirt folded up and tied around the waist. And, of course, add statement earrings or gold hoops.
This look is heavily influenced by the nineties - it’s definitely channeling a J Lo vibe - and it’s our first foray into using hardware. They complement each other - the revealing cut of the top with the minimal simplicity of the slip skirt. We love them as a pair but we designed them to work as statement separates too, styled with the existing pieces in your wardrobe. You can wear the Portia top numerous ways - tie it at the front or in a big bow at the back - and we’d off-set its sexiness with a pair of slouchy boyfriend jeans and a blazer over the top so that it’s not so exposed.
This dress is a real showstopper - low at the front and low at the back, it’s all reveal and made to frame the body. We introduced this low back last winter but kept it quite safe at the front - for summer we really wanted to try this noughties-inspired, super-revealing open cowl and bring it to a classic evening gown. Wear it with your hair up so that you really show off the back and heels to do justice to the elongated shape and train.
A dramatic sleeve is definitely part of the Rat & Boa DNA thanks to our everlasting 70s obsession but this dress takes our love of exaggeration to the extreme. The dress is super versatile - it’s a bit slouchy with a relaxed, louche vibe and detachable belt loops so you can wear it as a tunic or pull it up shorter and wrap it around. It will work in every context on holiday - and plenty when you’re not - depending on how you style it. We’d wear it with sandals during the day and add heels and hoops in the evening to glam it up.
Having introduced soft tailoring into A New Dawn collection, we wanted to introduce more separates into our SS21 collection, this time with a sequin spin. Masculine and feminine, the Celine has multiple styling options, be it paired with the Aria Headscarf, or with oversized trousers..Take it on a night out or to the beach layered over a bikini.
The Pantone colour for this garment is aptly named Parrot Green - a perfect fitting to our inspirations and references of nature for this collection. This skirt has a cowl at the back and slits at both sides which creates the illusion of a fish tail and makes it the perfect skirt to dance in - it has a lot of fluidity but if you’re standing still it just drops beautifully.
This is such a simple, effortless dress to wear, with a neckline that’s really flattering and a scooped back that offers just the right amount of drama. Leopard is something that is so part of the Rat & Boa DNA and this print is inspired by the wild - but given our stamp with a flash of emerald green. It’s the perfect dress to take you from day to night.
We love a headscarf to finish off our Summer looks, with a nod to both the 70' s and the '90s depending on how it's styled, we wanted to bring you something different. Something playful to see in the magic of Summer.SHOP A QUIET STORM
